Of all the camp cookery things you can get up to baking bread is probably one of the most tricky for the uninitiated. Not only is it a multi-stage process but yeast is a capricious thing when it comes to heat and cold and draft. But a bag of flour, yeast and salt is easy to pack, its dry weight makes it ideal. Just adding a splash water, a dribble of oil, some elbow grease, a bit of heat and you can have the smell of freshly baked bread wafting around the campsite. Its enough to win you many favours!
